Getting in touch with feelings, developing and using sense and imagination work, is a key way for children to learn to empower themselves.

How PowerVisions Came to Be
As a parent, I have a vision for my child (and for all children) to be strong, resilient, successful, compassionate, assertive, creative and to make a positive difference in the world; basically all of the good stuff I aspire to. I'm convinced that the most important thing we can do for our children is to role model and encourage healthy, empowering behavior. So I asked myself, "How can I make a difference: how can I be compassionate, creative and make a difference?" I decided to write this book.

There are so many skills children don't formally learn in school, life skills in which many of us adults wish we'd had some training. I'm a big believer in academic excellence, but it's hard to get a child with low self-esteem to apply him or herself to any consistent goal, let alone the task of getting straight A's. Possessing self-confidence, self-assertion, directing the mind positively, utilizing creative problem-solving and imagination skills are guaranteed to enhance manyfold any skill which one learns in school.

I envision these journeys of imagination which I've created as a way for children to themselves as source for creative fun, without constant reliance on various electronic media for stimulation. Getting in touch with feelings and developing and using sense and imagination work is a key way for children to learn to empower themselves. They learn to create their own reality and take responsibility for it, and hence feel more secure, confident and prepared for the outside world.

I believe that every achievement begins as a thought and that the mind can be trained to work for us........That's what PowerVisions is: exercise for the mind, practice in freeing and directing the imaginative power of the mind to enable the child to create roadways for opportunity, inner strength, personal power and growth. It is my wish that this book of visions will inspire all who read it to build their own playful framework for expansion and self-expression.

I have lovingly hand-painted the covers of each book, adding another unique feature to the process. Other volumes are in the works. There are 22 guided imagery exercises in this volume. I have written each exercise with a specific focus in mind.

Each PowerVisions journey is to be preceded by the Relaxation Prelude, found at the front of the book. It is essential that the children be guided through relaxation preparation, so that tension and pre-occupation do not block access to their imaginations.
